Police arrest perpetrator who barricaded himself in Los Angeles shop

The young man took up arms following a family quarrel

NEW YORK, July 22. /TASS/. The perpetrator who barricaded himself in a Trader Joe’s shop in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, has been neutralized and taken into custody, the city police reported on Twitter.

"We have successfully taken the suspect into custody without incident. The situation remains fluid as officers move forward clearing the location," the police tweeted.

The young man took up arms following a family quarrel. He injured his grandmother and another woman, then crashed in a car while escaping the police, engaged in a shootout with the police officers and barricaded himself in the shop. Neither policemen nor firefighters were injured in the attack.

The authorities are currently clarifying how many people were in Trader Joe’s during the incident. Several adult customers and children managed to leave the shop themselves.
