Putin praises Baltic Debuts film festival as example of fruitful international cooperation

The 15th Baltic Debuts international film festival is held July 8-13

MOSCOW, July 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his greetings to participants, organizers and guests of the 15th Baltic Debuts international film festival, calling the forum a bright example of fruitful international cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, according to information posted on the Kremlin’s website on Sunday.

"For many years, your forum has been uniting cinema art figures from Russia, the Baltic and North European countries in Svetlogorsk and is rightly considered as a bright example of fruitful international cooperation in the humanitarian sphere," he president’s letter says.

The festival demonstrates new cinematographic products and holds an open dialogue among representatives of creative professions on the issues of the development of the cinema industry, the head of the Russian state said.

"And, of course, the festival is always a festivity for residents and guests of the Kaliningrad Region and for all cinema lovers," he said.

The Russian president said he hoped that such large-scale events helped enrich the cultural life of the countries participating in the forum, and also contributed to strengthening friendship among people.

Baltic Debuts festival

The Baltic Debuts festival runs on July 8-13 with the support of Russia’s Culture Ministry and the government of the Kaliningrad Region. This is Russia’s sole debut review of young cinematographers from Baltic and North European countries annually held in the city of Svetlogorsk since 2004.
