Coal mine collapses in southern Siberia, one person trapped

Some 80 people were working at the mine when it collapsed

NOVOSIBIRSK, April 30. /TASS/. One person was trapped after a coal mine collapsed in the Tandinsky district of the Tuva Republic in southern Siberia, the regional emergency operations service told TASS on Monday.

"According to our information, one person is there," the service said.

The incident at the Mezhegeyugol coal mine occurred at 11.07 a.m. local time. The rescue effort involves 21 people.

Some 80 people were working at the mine when it collapsed, and 79 of them were taken to the surface, a source in the local emergencies services told TASS.

The coal mine is owned by the Evraz mining company. The facility is located at the Mezhegeysky field covering the area of 48 square meters in the central part of the republic.
