MEXICO CITY, April 28. /TASS/. The number of tourists from Mexico coming to Russia will surge this year amid the upcoming FIFA World Cup, a Moscow city administration official told a forum in Mexico City dedicated to investment potential of the two countries’ capitals.

"According to FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) a week ago football fans from Mexico bought 51,700 tickets for the football matches in Russia," said Alexei Tikhnenko, the head of the Hospitality Board at the Moscow Sports and Tourism Department.

The tourist flow from the Latin American country will grow several times compared with 2017. On June 17, Mexico’s team will play against Germany at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

During the world football championship in the Russian capital a Mexican pavilion will work near Red Square. This will be the biggest pavilion compared with those of other participating countries.

According to representatives of the Taste of Mexico project, the pavilion will host concerts of Mexican performers, degustation of national beverages and dishes, and huge screens will show the matches for numerous fans from the Latin American country.

Russia selected 11 host cities to be the venues for the matches of the 2018 World Cup and they are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara.

The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums located in the 11 mentioned above cities across Russia. Two of the stadiums are located in the Russian capital.
