Teacher rushed to intensive care unit following knife attack in Bashkortostan school

A 17-year-old remedial student who stabbed his classmates and a teacher in a school in Sterlitamak was found to be unconscious

UFA, April 18. /TASS/. A teacher has been rushed to an intensive care unit (ICU), following an attack by a teenager in a Bashkortostan school. Doctors have reported that she is in stable condition, the hospital’s admission department in Sterlitamak, to where the victims had been delivered, told TASS.

"Yes, almost everyone is in the ICU in satisfactory condition. Yes, [the teacher underwent] an operation. Four [people] were taken to hospital," a hospital official said.
By the time the Russian National Guard troops had arrived, the student attacker who stabbed his classmates and the teacher in the school in Sterlitamak, in the Bashkortostan Region was found to be unconscious, National Guard Adviser Alexander Khinshtein told TASS.

"The perpetrator had lost conscience by the time the security detachment had arrived," he said.

According to preliminary information of the Investigative Committee, a 17-year-old remedial student at public school number 1 in the city of Sterlitamak entered a computer science room where his schoolmates were located and slashed a schoolgirl’s hand, moving on to then stab a teacher," the Investigative Committee said in a report. He then proceeded to pour out a combustible substance and set it on fire, while also wounding himself with the knife.

Another schoolgirl panicked and jumped out of a window on the second floor. Three victims and the teenager himself were taken to the hospital.
