United States informs Russia that it will not seek capital punishment for Snowden

WASHINGTON, July 26 (Itar-Tass) - The U.S. authorities have notified Russia that they will not seek a death penalty for Snowden in case of his extradition to the United States, the U.S. Justice Department told Reuters on Friday.

The Justice Department also pledged that Snowden would not be subject to torture and that all his U.S. citizen rights would be observed.
