Russian, Chinese medical specialists to team up for telemedicine project

Early in 2017, first exchanges of specialists are planned

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/ Representatives from the Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Center (NWMRC), Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Shanghai Association of Industrial Biomedicine have signed a memorandum of future cooperation during a meeting organized at the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), the university’s media center said. Thanks to the session, agreements on mutual work in telemedicine, terahertz therapy, and big data have been sealed.

The memorandum implies expanding knowledge, an exchange of specialists, conducting joint research in the field of handling big data gathered as a result of diagnostics, developing new medical drugs and performing pre-clinical tests, as well as sharing experience in postnatal diagnostics and rehabilitation of premature babies.

"More than 100 Russian and Chinese medical professionals have agreed to perform a diagnosis of patients’ conditions using telemedicine methods. The first framework for conducting joint analysis and control of primary and secondary diagnostics of patients (CT angiography, magnetic resonance tomography etc.)," the media center reported.

SPbPU together with the NWMRC are part of the ‘translational medicine’ cluster, all activities of Chinese and Russian researchers will be held with the assistance of the SPbPU’s official mission in Shanghai.

Early in 2017, first exchanges of specialists are planned. The NWMRC management team will visit Shanghai to meet with the representatives from Chinese medical centers.
