Russian space freighter Progress MS-02 ‘buried’ in the Pacific after descent

The Progress MS-02 spacecraft stayed with the International Space Station since April

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. The Russian space freighter Progress MS-02 has been deorbited and sunk in the non-navigable part of the Pacific Ocean, several thousand kilometers from New Zealand, the Flight Control Center in the Moscow Region told TASS on Friday.

"The fragments of the space freighter that have not burnt in the dense layers of the atmosphere have reached the ocean’s surface," the Flight Control Center said.

The Progress MS-02 spacecraft stayed with the International Space Station from April 2. After the space freighter performed its basic mission and delivered cargoes to the ISS, its engines were used to correct the station’s orbit on several occasions.
