Winter temperatures break another warmth record in Moscow

The previous record for December 23 in 1982 - 4.5 degrees Celsius - has been beaten

MOSCOW, December 23. /TASS/. Warm weather has set the fourth record in Moscow this month, with temperatures reaching 4.7 degrees Celsius above zero (40.46 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, the city meteorologists have said.

"The previous record for December 23 in 1982 - 4.5 degrees Celsius - has been beaten," the meteorological service said. The air is expected to become warmer and the final new absolute record for December 23 will be known later in the day.

This is also the third temperature record this week in the Russian capital.

Unusually warm temperatures have changed winter life in Russia's capital: the abnormal spell of warm weather due to Atlantic cyclones blocks the start of the ski season and postpones flooding of the city rinks with water.
