Medics to decide in May if cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky ready for third flight to ISS

He made his first flight in 2012 to have spent a total of 144 days on the ISS

ROSTOV-ON-DON, April 15. /TASS/. Medics will examine Russian cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky in May to see if he is in good shape for a third flight to the International Space Station.

"I’ll undergo medical examination in May. The doctors will decide if I’m ready to fly after an insignificant injury. I suffered a ligament rupture a year ago and had to be operated on. I think I’m ready," Novitsky said.

He made his first flight in 2012 to have spent a total of 144 days on the ISS. In 2014, he was awarded the title of the Hero of Russia. His second 197-day flight on the ISS ended in June 2017.

In November 2018, he was awarded the Order of Merit 4th class for services to nation and great contribution to manned space flights and strengthening international cooperation in space exploration.
