Russian space firm ready to boost Soyuz-MS production to 5 spacecraft a year

Currently, all of Russia’s manned launches are carried out aboard Soyuz-MS spacecraft

KHIMKI /Moscow Region/, March 21. /TASS/. The Energia Space Rocket Corporation is ready to boost the production of manned Soyuz-MS spacecraft to five rockets a year, Head of Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said on Thursday.

"We are now producing four Soyuz-MS spacecraft a year. With its current technological potential, the Energia can manufacture up to five spacecraft," Rogozin said.

Roscosmos is currently getting new orders under manned space flight programs, "including for non-professional cosmonauts," Rogozin said, thus responding to a question from LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky about the possibility of a space flight by lawmaker Mikhail Degtyaryov.

Currently, all of Russia’s manned launches are carried out aboard Soyuz-MS spacecraft. They are manufactured by the Energia Space Rocket Corporation based in Korolyov near Moscow.
