Ovchinin, Kononenko to make spacewalk May 29

NASA’s Christina Koch will assist them in the operation

BAIKONUR, March 13. /TASS/. Russia’s cosmonauts on the ISS are scheduled to make a spacewalk on May 29, cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin told a news conference on Wednesday.

NASA’s astronaut Christina Koch will assist them in the operation.

Christina and Anne [McCain] will go outside a little earlier. Oleg Kononenko and I are scheduled to make a spacewalk, too. I believe Christina will give us advice and provide other assistance," Ovchinin said.

A Soyuz-FG rocket carrying the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-12 is to blast off from Baikonur, in Kazakhstan, at 22:14 on March 14 Moscow time. It will take to the ISS a new crew - Ovchinin and NASA’s Nick Hague and Christina Kokh. Originally, Ovchinin and Koch were to arrive on the ISS in October 2018. Their mission had to be aborted due to the failure of the Soyuz-FG rocket on October 11. The emergency and rescue system was activated on time. The crew was not hurt.
