The film Innocence of Muslims may be found extremist in Russia

The film sparked up massive disorders in several countries

MOSCOW, September 18 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit in the court with the claim to ban the film Innocence of Muslims in Russia. The film sparked up massive disorders in several countries. The experts believe that after the guilty verdict to the punk band Pussy Riot the Russian authorities are seeking to avoid any problems, which are related with religious conflicts. They are also surprised with an urgent response of the Prosecutor General’s Office. “This is the first case, when a foreign piece of art, which was not translated into Russian and was being spread abroad, was found extremist,” head of the human rights association Agora Pavel Chikov told the Kommersant daily. “Meanwhile, this is the first anti-Islamic film. Some pieces of Muslim scholars used to get on the list of banned materials,” he said. The human rights activist does not rule out that this decision was taken at the highest level, because the authorities took religious scandals particularly attentively after the escapade of the punk band Pussy Riot at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
