The killer of two women in Kazan came out for Pussy Riot

The detectives do not rule out that “a sick relative” of the Pussy Riot members or a mentally disabled marginal could have killed the women

MOSCOW, August 31 (Itar-Tass) — The killer killed and maimed with the knife a 76-year-old female pensioner and her 38-year-old daughter in Kazan. Before leaving the murder scene the killer left the message on the wall “Free Pussy Riot” written in blood of the killed women. The detectives do not rule out that “a sick relative” of the Pussy Riot members or a mentally disabled marginal could have killed the women.

According to preliminary reports, the double murder was committed on August 24-26, the Nezavisimaya Gazeta daily reported. There is little information about the killed women. The 38-year-old daughter of the killed pensioner worked at the shop not far from the house, where she lived together with her mother, who was suffering much about the death of her husband and the death of her son in the road accident. The brutal murder would probably have not got beyond brief news reports in the local press, but for a huge inscription nearly the whole wall long that the killers left at the crime scene, “Free Pussy Riot”. Presumably, the slogan was written in blood of the killed women.

Kazan supporters of the punk group Pussy Riot from representatives of the protesting movement share the theory of the law enforcement agencies about the maniac killer, adding that the assassination could have been a provocative act.

The detectives are investigating several theories, the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily reported. Probably, the women fell victim of an alcoholic addict, a drug addict or a mentally disabled person. “The armed attack is also considered. The things in the flat were scattered, and this can point to the fact that the killer was searching for precious things,” spokesman in the republican branch of the Investigation Committee Andrei Sheptitsky told the newspaper. Most likely, women let the killer in the flat themselves. The detectives do not doubt only about one thing that the killer was really sympathizing with Pussy Riot. Although the motive of the murder and the views of the criminal are most likely not interrelated at all.

Academician of the Russian Academy of Political Sciences Vladimir Belyaev, who is cited by the Rossiiskaya Gazeta daily, does not see any political motives in the murder of the woman pensioner and her daughter. According to the expert, people, who are sympathizing strongly with the convicted participants of the punk player and are ready to commit a crime in their support, can hardly be found in Kazan. “There are many cases in the history, when some campaigns, which the media or political forces staged, affect psychologically unstable people. Most likely, in this case the killer wanted to hush up the traces or was just a mentally disabled person or was strongly impressed by this story with the punk band. But he is hardly their supporter, I strongly doubt that there are some people in Kazan that support this escapade. I did not meet those, who would like to voice sympathy with them among residents of the city,” the political expert underlined.
