The police hope to talk with Dodozhon Avotulloyev in the afternoon

MOSCOW, January 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The police hope to talk with Dodozhon Avotulloyev in the afternoon.

Dodozhon Avotulloyev, a well-known Tajik opposition activist and journalist, who fell victim of an attempt on his life on Thursday night, is being kept in an intensive-therapy ward with a knife wound of the stomach, a representative of the Moscow police department told The Izvestia on Friday.

Reports appeared in the mass media on Thursday that Avotulloyev had been wounded in the Viaggio restaurant, situated Komsomolsky Avenue, 15. The journalist was sitting at a table, when an unidentified man, who came from Asia, judging by his appearance, came running to him and twice stabbed him with a knife.

The police officer said that the attack had taken place at about 21.30. The police received a telephone call from doctors, who said that a man with the preliminary diagnosis of “piercing knife wound of the stomach” had been evacuated from the Komsomolsky Avenue, 15, block 2.

When the police came to the restaurant, it was already closed, and they could not interrogate the personnel or witnesses. Avotulloyev was in the intensive-therapy ward, and could not be interrogated either. The police hope to ask him questions on Friday afternoon. There is no official information that it is the restaurant where the attack really took place.
