MOSCOW, September 7. /TASS/. The Center-2015 strategic exercises will start on September 14 after the completion of the current snap checks of the Central Military District, the head of the Russian General Staff operations department, Andrey Kartapolov, said on Monday.

The surprise combat readiness inspection of the forces of Russia’s Central Military District was started on Monday on an order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces. The forces of the Central Military District and part of aviation of other military districts, Airborne Forces and Military-Transport Aviation were put on full combat alert at 09:30, Moscow time on September 7. The snap checks will be held from September 7 to 12 and involve some 95,000 servicemen, 7,000 pieces of armaments and combat hardware and 170 aircraft.
