Putin orders snap check of Central Military District troops

Russia’s Defense Ministry will also check the readiness of several ministries and agencies, as well as administrations of four regions, to act in wartime

MOSCOW, September 7. /TASS/. Russia’s army Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Vladimir Putin ordered on Monday to conduct a surprise inspection of the Central Military District troops, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said.

"In accordance with his order, the district troops, part of the aviation forces of other military districts, Airborne Forces and Military-Transport Aviation at 09:30, Moscow time are being put on full combat alert," the defense minister said at a meeting with the ministry’s command staff at the country’s National Defense Control Center.

"Snap checks should be held from September 7 to September 12," Shoigu told the defense ministry session in the National Center for State Defense Management.

Russia’s Defense Ministry will check the readiness of several ministries and agencies, as well as administrations of four regions, to act in wartime, Shoigu added. Among those subjected to checks will be the ministries of health, agriculture, industry and trade; Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Rosrybolovstso federal fishery agency, Rosrezerv federal state reserve agency; and the administrations of Bashkiria, Novosibirsk, Samara and Chelyabinsk regions.

"It is necessary to work the issues of inter-departmental planning, organization of cooperation, practical implementation of mobilization tasks and tasks of territorial defense together with federal authorities," Shoigu told the defense ministry session in the National Center for State Defense Managamenet.
