Terrorist group leader killed in Russia’s North Caucasus — investigators

The man who was neutralized after having opened fire from a gun at the police officers was later identified as Islam Muradov, 30, the leader of the Khasavyurt sabotage and terrorist group

MAKHACHKALA, August 25. /TASS/. The gunman who was killed by law enforcers in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt district on Tuesday was the leader of a local armed gang, the Investigative Committee in Russia’s North Caucasus region has said.

The man who was neutralized after having opened fire from a gun at the police officers was later identified as Islam Muradov, 30, the leader of the Khasavyurt sabotage and terrorist group.

No police officers were injured or killed during the incident.

Investigators say Muradov was on a federal wanted list for attacks against law enforcement officials, murders and calls for carrying out terrorist activity, as well as extortion and a range of other serious crimes.
