Four Russian mountaineers freeze to death on Altai peak

All of them were experienced mountain climbers and the glacial route, which the alpinists had chosen, was not complicated

TOMSK, August 14 /TASS/. Four mountain climbers from Tomsk, a city in Western Siberia, have died during ascent in the Aktru gorge in Russia’s Altai Mountains, a source at the tourism and Alpinism club (TAKT) of the Tomsk State University of Radio Systems and Radio Electronics told TASS on Friday. Presumably, they have frozen to death.

They were experienced mountain climbers: Oleg Tverdokhlebov, Dmitry Shelefontyuk, Andrei Martynov and Alisa Rotanova," the club source said adding that the glacial route, which the alpinists had chosen, was not complicated.
