MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. A regiment servicing the new S-400 Triumph antiaircraft missile systems has gone on combat duty in Russia's Far East Kamchatka, the chief press spokesman for Russia’s Eastern Military District, Captain 1st Rank Roman Martov told TASS on Friday.
"Rear Admiral Sergey Lyapin, the Commander of Forces and Troops in the Northeast of Russia who attended the gala ceremony of putting the regiment on combat duty praised the professional performance of the officers of the regiment and voiced confidence in the inviolability of Russia’s eastern borders," Capt. Martov said.
The new technology has a capability to track down aerial targets at distances of over 600 km and their combat efficiency stands way above the efficiency of the antiaircraft defense units of foreign countries.
Earlier, the regiment operated an S-300 air defense missile system, Martov said.
