MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. The jubilee Russia-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit will take place in Russia in 2016, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The agreement on holding the jubilee summit was reached at an annual ministerial Russia-ASEAN meeting underway in Kuala Lumpur, the foreign ministry added.
"Major attention was paid to forthcoming 20th anniversary of Russia-ASEAN dialogue partnership in 2016," the ministry continued. "An agreement was reached on organizing the jubilee summit in Russia, preparing a conceptual document that reflects strategic vision of Russian-ASEAN ties for long-term prospects," it added.
A special group will be tasked with organizing the summit. The decision on creating the group was made at the ministerial meeting. The foreign ministers also agreed to step up work on preparing the Joint action plan on developing cooperation in this format for 2016-2020 and announced 2016 as Russia-ASEAN Year of Culture.
