Russian Pacific Fleet coastal defense troops drills to be held in Kamchatka in late August

Tactical live fire drills were held within the framework of combat training

MOSCOW, August 4. /TASS/. More than 1,000 troops will take part in tactical battalion maneuvers of the coastal defense forces of the Russian Pacific Fleet in late August, Eastern Military District spokesman Roman Martov told journalists on Tuesday.

According to him, company tactical live fire drills were held within the framework of combat training at the Radygina range, involving assault battalion units of a separate Marine Corps brigade.

"The exercise focused on drilling interoperability and liaison in coastal mobile defensive and offensive operations, blocking and destroying of simulated enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups, battle defense actions, as well as improving personnel’s combat vehicle driving skills and firing standard weapons," Martov said.

The exercise, he said, "is conducted ahead of larger-scale battalion tactical manoeuvres, which will begin in the Marine Corps’ separate brigade in late August." "They are expected to involve about 1,000 troops and more than 50 units of combat and special equipment," the spokesman said.
