NALCHIK, August 3. /TASS/. Security forces have blocked a group of gunmen in an apartment building in Nalchik, the capital of Russia’s North Caucasus Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, the firefight is underway, a source in the republican law enforcement agencies has told TASS.
"A group of gunmen has been blocked in an apartment building in Nalchik’s Alexandrovka district, the fighting is underway," he said.
The republic’s operational headquarters reported earlier on Monday that the regime of a counterterrorism operation had been put in place in some parts of Nalchik as of 02:45 Moscow Time. The aim of the counterterrorism regime is "to prevent terrorist attacks, seek and detain the hiding gunmen," a source in Kabardino-Balkaria’s operational headquarters said.
