MOSCOW, July 17. /TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov spoke for development of bilateral relations in many spheres.
"We shall develop the bilateral cooperation in all forms, including in the regional sphere, at the UN, OSCE, at the Caspian and in other formats."
Lavrov said active bilateral contacts are due after the summer break.
"In September, Russia will organize near Yekaterinburg a big arms show," he said. "We welcome representatives of Azerbaijan."
"In September, a conference in St. Petersburg will be devoted to development of oil and gas deposits in the Russian Arctic zone, and we are inviting Azerbaijan’s minister of energy to participate in it."
Humanitarian relations are an important direction of cooperation, the foreign minister said.
"In 2016, Baku will host a humanitarian forum, and Days of Russian Culture," Lavrov said. "Today we shall discuss the international agenda, including regional security and our efforts towards settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem."
Azerbaijan’s foreign minister said Russia and Azerbaijan shared similar positions on political issues. "We highlight the positive results of Russia’s efforts in having signed the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program."
"We appreciate Russia’s allocation to Azerbaijan the status of observer in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," he said.
