YEKATERINBURG, July 7. /TASS/. The new-generation combat platform Armata will go on display at the international defense exhibition Russia Arms Expo-2015, which will be held in Nizhny Tagil in the Urals in early September, Uralvagonzavod CEO Oleg Siyenko said on Tuesday.
The Armata combat platform may be demonstrated in a closed show or "behind the glass," Siyenko said.
"As for the demonstration of the Armata, we’ll certainly show it. This will be either a closed show or Armata will be placed behind a glass anti-glare contour," he said.
Armata is a heavy unified platform created for tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
The new-generation tank boasts an unmanned turret, fully digitalized control and an isolated armored capsule accommodating the crew.
Armata’s main weapon is a 125 mm gun. In principle, the vehicle can be armed with a 152 mm gun, too. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin earlier said Armata’s shell is capable of piercing one-meter-thick armor.
The 10th International Exhibition of Arms, Military Hardware and Ammunition (RAE-2015) will be held in Nizhny Tagil on September 9-12. It is expected to become the largest exhibition from the viewpoint of demonstrating the newest developments of both Russian and foreign defense manufacturers.
The exhibition is held once every two years. In 2013, the Nizhny Tagil arms show was attended by delegations from more than 45 countries, about 400 leading international specialists and top managers of defense enterprises.
