KAZAN, July 6. /TASS/. BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) youth ministers have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding in the sphere of youth policy Monday in Kazan. The document will be presented to the leaders of BRICS member countries at the summit in Ufa.
"The memorandum will allow to develop a [unified] policy in the framework of the youth dimension of BRICS," head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Sergey Pospelov said at the signing ceremony.
An Indian representative said that "BRICS youth summit will help develop cooperation between BRICS countries." A Chinese official noted that "the association has a future and prospects only when working with the youth."
More than 250 young leaders from BRICS countries are participating in the youth summit. The closing ceremony will take part later today. BRICS is an association of five major emerging economies — Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa — founded in June 2006. The first official summit took place in June 2009 in Russia’s Yekaterinburg. Since then, meetings at the highest level are held annually in member-countries. The last summit took place in Brazil. On April 1, Russia accepted BRICS presidency.
