MOSCOW, July 2. /TASS/. Joint efforts of the West and the East are needed to resolve international conflicts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening ceremony of the BRICS Youth Summit on Thursday.

"Neither the European Union nor NATO, no country can resolve conflicts alone," the minister said. "Combined efforts of the West and the East and the leading BRICS countries are required."

"We push for the establishment of democracy in international relations, the supremacy of law in international affairs," Lavrov noted. "Our Western partners often say that each country should ensure the rule of law inside it," Russia’s top diplomat said. "But when we suggest transferring this to interstate relations, there’s little enthusiasm about it. But this will pass."
