TULA, June 30. /TASS/. A prisoner who took three warders hostage at a high-security jail in Tula region, central Russia, has been killed in a special operation, a spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee said on Tuesday.

The hostage-taker "used a handmade explosive device and an object resembling a gun," the spokesman said.

The 30-year old man was imprisoned for 10 years in 2014 for robbery, the spokesman said adding that a criminal probe had been launched into the incident.
