MOSCOW, June 22. /TASS/. Fighters of the naval aviation of Russia’s Pacific Fleet from the Yelizovo base have drilled combat alert actions within an inspection framework, spokesman for the Eastern Military District Roman Martov said on Monday.

"The MiG-31 fighter-interceptors during training mission sorties drilled the standard take-off operation, as well as the interaction of air and ground crews on combat alert," he said.

In addition, the pilots drilled taking off from and landing on a shorter runway, damaged by an imaginary enemy.

It was reported last week that the a combat readiness inspection, involving up to 14,000 troops, some 50 warships and vessels, 40 planes and helicopters, was launched in the Pacific Fleet. During the manoeuvres the navy men will conduct exercises in the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk, as well as in the Avacha Bay, the Russian Defence Ministry reported.
