STRELNA, June 18. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday pointed to "active development" of cooperation with China in various areas.
In a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on the sidelines of the annual St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin said: "Russian-Chinese strategic partnership is actively developing in all spheres."
The Russian leader recalled that Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow in May to join in commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two.
"I know that he just celebrated his birthday on June 15. Please send him my best wishes," said Putin.
Zhang said that relations between the two countries were at quite a high level today.
He thanked Putin for the meeting and also conveyed "warm greetings and best wishes" from China’s president and prime minister. He noted that the leaders of the two countries "have already established very deep personal and friendly ties" and maintained close contact with each other.
