MAKHACHKALA, June 6. /TASS/. A local militant leader was killed early Saturday in Dagestan, a law enforcement source in the Russian North Caucasus republic told TASS.
"Overnight to Saturday, between the city of Khasavyurt and the republic’s Novolaksky District, law enforcers were conducting manhunt activities, during which a militant was discovered. In the ensuing gunfight, he was killed," the source said.
He said the militant was preliminarily identified as the leader of the so-called Aukhovskaya militant group, Suleiman Zainalabidov.
