SOCHI, May 30. /TASS/. The air show dubbed Тhe Olympic Sky in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi has attracted over 17,000 spectators on Saturday, equal to the number of fans gathering daily during the 2014 Winter Olympics, the show organisers told TASS.

Russian air display teams called "Rus", "The First Flight" and "Baltic Bees" were performing aerobatic manoeuvres over Olympic Park for three hours. Regardless of high winds, spectacular parachute jumps from a Mil Mi-8 helicopter ended the show.

High season kicked off in Sochi on Saturday. The city’s authorities promised to welcome nearly 5.5 million holiday-makers in 2015. Earlier on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak voiced a more optimistic forecast.

"Last year 5.5 million people came, with regard of the Olympic Games," he said. "At present we expect six million as infrastructure and Sochi’s image after the Olympics have played their role.".
