Putin to watch Ice Hockey World Championship final from Sochi - spokesman

SOCHI, May 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be cheering for the Russian ice hockey team in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Saturday.

"Of course, he will be watching [the game]," Peskov said. "In Sochi."

Peskov noted that Putin was watching Saturday’s semi-final against the United States "together with ice hockey veterans after the Night Ice Hockey League match."

They "were watching the game, cheering and rejoicing," he said adding no-one had expected such a sweeping victory.
