MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces conducted 886 exercises of different level during the winter training period, including 260 multiservice force drills, fulfilling all the planned tasks, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday.
The minister said that the time spent underway for surface ships was 16 days on the average and for submarines - 22 days. The flying time for the crews of tactical aviation reached 24 hours and for army aviation - 30 hours, and for the Long-Range and Military-Transport Aviation the flight time reached 37 and 48 hours, respectively. Each crew of armored vehicles covered some 160 kilometers on the average, Shoigu said during a conference call with the army leadership at the Russian National Defense Control Center.
"The winter training period results have shown in general that the force groupings in all strategic areas are ready to fulfil the combat tasks," the defence minister said.
