MOSCOW, May 1. /TASS/. Russia is able to meet any challenges and those people who can take the responsibility ensure the country’s progress, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

The Russian leader presented in the Kremlin gold medals to five new Heroes of Labour of the Russian Federation. Hero of Labour is the second highest rank in Russia along with the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

"Today Russia again proves that it can counter any challenges and solve the most difficult tasks," the president told the ceremony.

"At all times, the country’s progress is ensured by those who take the responsibility and understand that the results of their personal efforts and labour predetermine the prosperity of not only certain enterprises, entire sectors, cities and villages, but the whole country, the authority and competitive advantage of the state, its creative and constructive energy," he said.

"The more these concerned, hard-working and talented people we have, the richer Russia is," he stressed.

"Thank you for your work, your talent, your labour, thank you for all what you are doing for the country," the president said.

With the signing of this decree the total number of Heroes of Labour of the Russian Federation has reached 15 people.

The honorary title "Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation" was instituted by presidential decree of March 29, 2013. This ceremony is the third in Russia’s newest history. By tradition, the medals are awarded on May 1 - Labour Day.
