MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday delivering a report to the State Duma (lower house of Russia's parliament) members that in the conditions of tough competition Russia has been able to maintain leadership on the world space launches market.
"We have made progress in the rocket and space industry, increasing our orbital constellation by 17 satellites and their total number reached 134, which is about 10% of the world’s constellation," the prime minister told the lawmakers.
According to him, "despite the rather tough competition, Russia has maintained its leadership on the world market, carrying out almost half of the total space launches."
Medvedev said that "the industry restructuring processes continue for the improvement of the rocket and space industry control system." "A joint stock company has been created in the rocket and space industry that will serve as a basis along with the Federal Space Agency for the establishment of a corresponding state corporation," the prime minister said.
