Russia, China to deepen military cooperation — China defense minister

According to Chinese Defense Minister, Moscow and Beijing are strategic partners, and the relationship between the states and their armed forces is developing at a high level

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Good-neighbourly relations between Russia and China contribute to stability in the region and the whole world, the countries intend to further deepen cooperation between their military departments, Defense Minister of China Chang Wanquan told journalists on Thursday at the 4th Moscow International Conference on Security.

According to him, Russia and China are strategic partners, and the relationship between the states and their armed forces is developing at a high level. "This meets the interests of not only our countries, it is also beneficial for peace and stability in the region and the world in general," he said.

During the conference, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan held bilateral talks. "In an open and friendly atmosphere we have exchanged views on the regional and global situation issues, as well as on other matters of common interest, with Mr Shoigu. We have worked out a wide range of agreements," the Chinese minister said. "In the future, we will further deepen cooperation between our armed forces in order to contribute to the development of our interstate relations."

Chang Wanquan said the Moscow conference was organized at a high level and thanked for an invitation to attend it. According to the Chinese defense minister, the conference has yielded "good results today." "Our ministers, our experts have exchanged views, which promotes further deepening of our agreements and mutual trust strengthening," the Chinese minister said.
