Russia seeks to strengthen positions on Latin American arms markets

Russia’s chief arms exporter will hold talks with representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Equator, China and South Africa

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 14. /TASS/. Russia seeks to strengthen its positions on the arms market of Latin America, with talks with delegations from seven Latin American countries expected at LAAD 2015 Defense and Security International Exhibition opening in Brazil on Tuesday.

"Our specialists will hold negotiations with high-ranking delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Equator, China and South Africa," said the head of the delegation of Russia’s chief arms exporter Rosoboronexport.

"In particular, we will discuss with Brazilian partners licensed production, joint R&D work, creation of new samples of arms and military hardware, including for supplies to third countries," said Sergei Ladygin, Rosoboronexport’s deputy director general.

According to the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, 17 Russian enterprises will present their military products at the exhibition. All in all, visitors and specialists will be able to see almost 670 Russian military products presented as models, mockups and other promotional materials.
