Russian patriarch congratulates Putin, Medvedev on Orthodox Easter

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. The head of Russia's Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, congratulated President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on the Easter holiday.

After an Easter service at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Patriarch Kirill greeted Putin, Medvedev and his wife Svetlana, as well as Mayor Sobyanin, who also attended Sunday’s service. He congratulated them on the most important Christian festival that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and gave them decorative Easter eggs as gifts.

The Russian leaders also extended their Easter greetings to the patriarch and left the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
