MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. More than 1,000 troops and around 200 pieces of equipment have taken part in artillery drills in Russia’s North Caucasus and the South Ossetia republic, the press service of the Southern Military District said on Friday.
The military exercises were held on firing ranges of Dagestan, Chechnya, North Ossetia-Alania, South Ossetia and the Stavropol Territory.
The drills involved Zoopark-1 modern radar complexes, Khrizantema-S supersonic anti-tank missile complexes, Msta-S self-propelled artillery weapons, Tornado-G modernized multiple launch rocket systems and Podnos mortars.
"A total of 9,000 rounds of ammunition were used during the training exercise," the press service said.
In the field, the artillerists trained operations between motorized infantry and tank elements, air defense units and aviation as part of a joint force grouping.
