Russia’s amendments to state defense order law to establish control of budget spending

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russia will set up an inter-departmental system of control over budget spending on state defense order contracts in accordance with legislative amendments submitted by President Vladimir Putin to parliament, the Kremlin website said on Thursday.

Putin submitted amendments to the law on state defense order and other legislative acts to the State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament.

Putin has also appointed Deputy Defense Minister Tatiana Shevtsova as his official representative during the document’s discussion in both houses of Russia’s parliament.

"The amendments stipulated by the bill are aimed at creating the inter-departmental system of control over the use of budget funds when state defense orders are placed and fulfilled. The system’s main participants will be the Defense Ministry of Russia, the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service of Russia, the Russian Financial Monitoring Agency and the Bank of Russia," an explanatory note to the document said.
