Russian Railways: 26 people injured as train collides with locomotive in central Russia

One of the injured has been hospitalized, the Russian Railways reported

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. A total of 26 passengers of a train that collided with a locomotive in the Lipetsk region, in central Russia, have sought medical assistance, and one of them has been hospitalized, the Russian Railways (RZD) said on Thursday.

The accident occurred early on Thursday at the Gryazi-Voronezhskiye station in the Lipetsk region when the locomotive was being disconnected from the train set. Suddenly, the train cars rolled down and hit the locomotive.

The train traveling from Volgograd continued its route to Moscow with a delay of around 2 hours. The schedule of other passenger trains was unaffected by the accident.

The transport police officers have launched an investigation into the accident. An RZD commission led by Anatoly Volodko has joined the effort.
