16 people injured as train collides with locomotive in central Russia

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. A total of 16 people received various injuries when a passenger train collided with a locomotive in the Lipetsk region, in central Russia, the Interior Ministry’s transport department in the Central Federal District said on Thursday.

The accident occurred early on Thursday at the Gryazi station when the locomotive was being disconnected from the train set. Suddenly, the train cars rolled down and hit the locomotive.

The injured passengers received medical treatment on the spot without being hospitalized.

The train traveling from Volgograd continued its route to Moscow.

Transport police officers are working on the scene. The causes of the accident are being established.
