MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that the implementation of agreements reached at the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on March 3 in Moscow will facilitate the development of Russian-Belarusian ties in all spheres, including in strengthening security on the Eurasian space, runs a congratulatory telegram from Putin to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Today, on April 2, the Day of Unity of Peoples of Russia and Belarus is celebrated, marking the anniversary of establishing the Union State of the two countries.

"In the telegram, the head of the Russian state noted the successful development of relations between the two countries on the basis of friendship, spiritual and cultural ties that unite Russians and Belarusians. Putin also stressed the effectiveness of the Union State as a mechanism of bilateral cooperation, and this experience is in demand when creating a more large-scale integration structure - the Eurasian Economic Union," the Kremlin press service said.

Putin "praised the results of the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State held on March 3 in Moscow and expressed confidence that the implementation of the reached agreements will help to further expand all specters of Russian-Belarusian ties, coordination of efforts in the spheres of foreign policy, defense and security in the interests of the peoples of the two countries and in line with strengthening stability and security on the Eurasian space," the press service said.
