European countries informed of Russian army drills in time — defense minister

The minister stressed that Russia needn't have informed European countries as the parameters of drills did not exceed the set limits

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. European countries were informed in time that Russia would hold army drills in March, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, summing up the results of a sudden check of troops combat efficiency.

"In order to demonstrate openness and transparency, all European countries were notified officially of the start of the troops’ activities via OSCE channels," Shoigu said.

He said it had been done "despite the fact that the parameters of drills did not exceed the set limits."
