Russian bombers deliver strikes at ground targets in war games

The crews drilled the most complicated elements of flight proficiency training

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. About a dozen Russian strategic bombers of the Tupolev-95MS and Tupolev-160 families have delivered strikes at ground targets on testing ranges in the Saratov region where a military exercise is underway, Colonel Igor Klimov, an official spokesman for the Air Force said on Thursday.

"The crews drilled the most complicated elements of flight proficiency training, like takeoffs and landings in adverse weather conditions and application of air-launched incapacitation devices at ground targets on a range," Col Klimov said.

The commander in charge of the exercise is the Chief of the Armed Force, Colonel-General Viktor Bondarev. The Commander of Russia’s Strategic Aviation, Lieutenant General Anatoly Zhikharev is also taking part in the maneuvers.

"Commanders of the Air Force on Thursday practiced the most complicated flight elements, which the officers of lower ranks - Lieutenants and Senior Lieutenants - will be expected to master shortly on the aircraft of new families," Col Klimov said.
