Russia not seeking to drive wedges between EU member states — diplomat

The European Union has failed a durability test as Russia's strategic partner, says the Russian ambassador to the EU

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. European Union has failed a durability test as Russia's strategic partner, the Russian ambassador to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, said on Wednesday in an interview with Rossiya'24 channel.

"We're are often blamed for attempts to drive wedges between member states of the EU or between the EU and the US. or just anywhere at all but Russian diplomacy doesn't have a goal of this sort and has never had it," Chizhov said.

"We're speaking in favor of a strong EU that would be a dignified partner for us," he said.

On the plane of reliability, the EU did not score any high points last year. "It gives me a saddening feeling to state the EU has failed a durability test as our strategic partner," Chizhov said.
