Serbian Embassy to provide maximum assistance in investigation of fire at oil station

YEKATERINBURG, February 9. /TASS/. The Serbian Embassy in Russia will provide maximum assistance to investigate the death of Serb workers in an oil station fire in the northwest Russian Yamal region, Serbian Ambassador Slavenko Terzic told TASS by phone on Monday.

The consul-general was at the site in Yamal, the diplomat said.

Six citizens of Serbia died in a fire at an oil station of the Transneft company in the northwest Siberian region.

The fire broke out in a wooden building located at an oil station on the Severo-Purovskoye oil field at about midnight local time (22:00 Moscow time) on February 7, killing six workers.

The Emergencies Ministry said 19 people with the use of four fire engines fought the blaze that spread over 840 square metres.

An investigation was launched, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee’s regional department said.

DNA analyses will be used to identify the victims.

The bodies are severely burnt, and they can be identified only by DNA testing. For identification, relatives of the victims will arrive in Yamal soon, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee’s regional department, Yelena Demyanova, told TASS on Monday, adding that the Serbian Consulate General would deal with organizational issues for their arrival.
