MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS/.The Moscow Prosecutor's office department for the southwestern administrative district has opened an investigation into a fire which broke out at a library of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences in Moscow, which was created in 1918 and holds thousands of books.
During the inspections the prosecutor's office will assess measures taken by the local fire surveillance department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations to extinguish the fire and compliance of the management of the budgetary library with fire precaution rules, TASS was told by an unnamed source from the Moscow Prosecutor's office.
The causes of the fire and damages caused to the federal property will be established in the near future, it said.
The fire broke out in the building of the Institute on Scientific Information on Social Studies in Nakhimovsky prospect in the southwest of Moscow on January 30. The fire damaged 2,000 square meters of floor space. Operations to extinguish the fire continued until Monday afternoon.
