YEKATERINBURG, January 17. /TASS/.Prosecutors of the Sverdlovsk region have organised inspection of how safety requirements were observed at the Yuzhnaya mine, where an explosion occurred on Saturday morning, the authority’s press service said.
Prosecutors say a fire in the mine was followed by an unauthorised detonation and explosion. The exact number of injured is not announced yet. “According to preliminary information, two people with burns and different injuries have been delivered to the city hospital,” the press service said.
Meanwhile, Alexander Shulga of the regional branch of the Investigative Committee said it is too premature to offer any versions.
“Under the opened criminal case the investigators are checking several versions, but as yet it is too early to speak about any special reason, as the investigation is underway,” he added.
In the emergency, the preliminary reports say, one person died, two got injured and there is still no information about two other minors. In the mine were 89 miners, and 86 of them were evacuated.
The authorities opened a criminal case on violation of safety requirements for mining, construction and other works.
